Fresh off the launch, I am sharing with you the latest limited edition collection from lifestyle brand beabi, who is celebrating its 10th year, in collaboration with world renowned
Filipino artist Manuel Baldemor. I am familiar with Baldemor's masterpieces because I like his colorful little houses and lively geometric style in painting. Look him up to see his beautiful works of art. With his first brand collab, we saw another side of the artist with the MBaldemor x beabi Floral
Symphony Collection.

Pasko na, Bonus Time na!
Every December, when I was still working, I always look forward to my Christmas bonus. Siyempre after 12 months of toiling, year-end bonuses are the icing on the cake talaga. While I am no longer working, I still earn from projects that come my way, and of course, ang bonus ni husband ang inaabangan namin, heehee! Having something extra to look forward to this month, I already try to plan on how we can spend wisely, and how we can surprise our family and friends as we share our blessings.
I think we can all agree na mas magastos talaga pag holiday season, so we should always find ways for our hard-earned money to go a long way. After covering all the basic needs, how do we spend our extra from year-end bonuses? Here are the usual suspects, in no particular order:
- Travel
- Jewelry
- Gadgets
- Pampering services
- Fine dining
- Surprise gifts for the family
- Home improvements
- Specialty foods and beverages
After watching this fun and entertaining video by our Star for All Seasons, Vilma Santos, and his lucky boy Luis, I am reminded that as a homemaker, I need to be frugal and always discerning when it comes to spending. Para laging may extra pa to save and to surprise our loved ones as we create memories with them!
You should watch and share this video to know what I mean. =) Nakakatuwa itong PUREGOLD "concert" with #ViLucky!
While there are times when we like to splurge on certain things, most often, I want value-for-money with my purchases, even with my groceries. This is always the case when we shop at PUREGOLD, always panalo! Sulit na sulit kasi when I buy our dry goods there, especially when in bulk. I know a lot of people who make PUREGOLD their shopping destination because of the amazing deals they can find. It's a one-stop-shop too. Kaya this Christmas, let's all make the most of what we have and share with our families. Pasko na! PUREGOLD na! =)

Always Panalo si Mommy at Puregold
I have a confession: I consider grocery time as "me time". Feel ko talaga mag-grocery shopping mag-isa coz I find it relaxing while I take my time browsing through the aisles, comparing prices, and discovering new products and good deals. Marami niyan sa Puregold 'coz they priced their goods at more affordable prices. I even made hashtags #MomGrocer and #MomFindsPH because aside from eating, I truly enjoy going to the supermarket. Mana ata ako sa mama ko, eat and shop, heehee. But, there are days when my kids make it more fun to shop too, kasi I learn about their preferences. Sometimes, they even surprise me by picking out grocery items they know I like and what we need for home. That's always panalo for me!

How We Can Be a Wall Against Dengue
I have relatives and friends who suffered from dengue and were hospitalized. I can only imagine how scary and traumatic it was for their loved ones. It is something I pray will never happen to me and my family. To be honest, I'm still not that familiar with the symptoms and effects of this disease. As a parent, I know it is my responsibility to educate myself and take necessary preventive measures to protect us. Recently, I agreed to take part in an advocacy to raise awareness against the disease because dengue cases in the Philippines continue to rise in recent years. As one of the moms against dengue, I will share as much information as I can so all of us can be a wall against dengue.

A Festive Salo-salo at KUYA J Restaurant with Jericho Rosales
I am a foodie at heart and I do appreciate a range of cuisines as well as how food was prepared. Filipino cuisine, with all it's Spanish and Oriental influences, is a fusion of exotic flavors. Comfort food for the soul. Admittedly, there are only a handful of Pinoy restos that I can claim to love and go back to. With that short list, I can safely say I've now added Kuya J resto -- a homegrown dining destination where families can enjoy a hearty Filipino feast!

It's still the month of May so I shall continue to celebrate motherhood with this special feature about one of my more memorable Mother's Day. This year, I was invited to be one of the guest moms at Scott's MOMAZING event to share some special moments I've had with my children. It's not everyday that I get interviewed by celebrity moms, and in a very public setting pa! =) So indulge me as I share my experience here.

Epic #Oscars 2014 Celebrity #Selfie with Ellen DeGeneres
Yesterday morning, I was one of millions who watched the live telecast of the 2014 Academy Awards. I only got to watch parts of the show at home, and luckily, I got to see how the now record-breaking Twitter and Instagram group picture of Hollywood A-listers, a.k.a. #selfie, started out with Ellen inviting Meryl Streep. Suffice to say, this star-studded Oscars "selfie" has gone viral and has hit over 3 million retweets as of yesterday!

Petit Bateau Sails to the Philippines
If you love stripes and basic tees like I do, then you'll be smitten with Petit Bateau. The 120-year old clothing brand from Troyes, France has now expanded in the country and I was fortunate to view their latest collections at a nautical inspired fashion show which kicked off the brand's launch at SM Aura Premier last weekend.

Anne Curtis, Solenn Heussaff, Kelly Misa are Pasta Girls
Three of the most beautiful and sought-after talents in the commercial and entertainment industries were recently launched as the 'pasta girls' for Greenwich Spaghetti Supreme.
I did not pass up on the invitation to attend this media affair simply because my family eats Greenwich pizza and pasta dishes, Megamall is conveniently located, and of course, I wanna see (and hopefully meet) these gorgeous ladies!

Beauty Chat with Celebrity Mom Judy Ann Santos
There's no denying it -- when you take good care of yourself, it shows. This holds true especially for women who know how to care and treat their skin right.
For most moms, myself included, taking care of our own needs usually fall last on the priority list. And when it comes to beauty secrets and rituals, I'm usually the one who asks the beauty questions from my friends!
Over a month ago, Johnson’s Baby Milk Bath invited moms to join the live Facebook online chat with their brand ambassador, Judy Ann Santos - Agoncillo, for a chance to ask beauty and parenting questions -- BUT I MISSED IT! Mommy duties prevented me from participating online, and I also failed to send in my questions.
I took comfort in the fact that I already got my rare chance to ask her personally when my question was picked by Judy Ann herself during the media launch last year. =) And may I just say, she really looked fresh and flawless up close!
Still, I was curious at how the beauty chat went. Good thing, everything was captured on video and posted on Johnson's Baby Philippines YouTube page. I not only learned about how Judy Ann balances her career and parenthood, but her skin and beauty tips as well.
Here are Judy Ann's Tips to Beautiful Skin, which I am already trying to do:
If it's good for babies, it must be good for us moms too, right? With it's milk proteins and Vitamins A and E, Johnson's Baby Milk Bath leaves my skin feeling soft and supple, and smelling fresh with it's mild scent every single time. Watch supermom Judy Ann as she shares more skin tips for moms on Johnson's Baby Philippines Facebook page.

- No to Stress - enjoy your bath time
- Use Sunscreen - to protect and avoid having sun damaged skin
- Make time to rest - get enough sleep to refresh your body; lack of sleep makes skin dry
- Feed your skin - take lots of fruits and veggies, healthy foods with vitamins A & E
- Drink Up - drink plenty of water to flush out toxins; also eat watery fruits like watermelon, honeydew
Of course, my kids will always invade our tub just to have their bubble bath too! If you watch the video below, Judy Ann advised that when stressed, "…try taking a bath, sing while taking a bath, enjoy your bath time…". This is really one of my favorite stress busters and "me time" activity. A good 10 to 15 minutes in the tub, even just once a week, is all I need to feel fresh and revitalized.

Smart, Glamorous and Hardworking Women Breastfeed
"Breastfeeding is one of the most natural and joyous acts of human love. And yet many Filipina mothers today, misled by a number of mistaken notions, continue to depend chiefly on formula milk to nourish their infants." - BBB
Over a week ago, I was invited to a press conference for UNICEF's breastfeeding campaign in partnership with Beauty, Brains & Breastfeeding, Inc. (BBB), an NGO advocating breastfeeding led by Ms. Iza Abeja. As much as I wanted to attend this noteworthy event, my daily mom duties did not allow me to. Still, I decided to share these important facts I've learned from their press release as I am an advocate of breastfeeding as well.
According to UNICEF statistics, only 34% of mothers in the Philippines practice exclusive feeding during their babies' first six months, and close to 50% depend on artificial milk in varying degrees.
BBB would like to correct several misconceptions about breastfeeding that discourage many mothers:
According to UNICEF statistics, only 34% of mothers in the Philippines practice exclusive feeding during their babies' first six months, and close to 50% depend on artificial milk in varying degrees.
BBB would like to correct several misconceptions about breastfeeding that discourage many mothers:
- Exclusive breastfeeding in the formative first six months of an infant is NOT a hindrance to a mother’s professional or personal goals
- Exclusive breastfeeding is a commitment to give one’s child with life-nourishing food and a good start in life; to think of breastfeeding as only for the poor should be dismissed immediately
- Continued breastfeeding DOES NOT cause a woman’s breasts to deform, sag or make her look haggard and unattractive
- Breastfeeding in public places is not an act shame and therefore should be encouraged
The event brought together three equally beautiful and accomplished women, composed of Ms. Abeja, media personalities Patricia Bermudez-Hizon and Daphne Oseña-Paez, to speak out and recount their breastfeeding experiences, and inspire more mothers to nurse their babies.

These amazing moms and their kids will appear in billboards around Metro Manila to bring their messages across and create more awareness about the importance and benefits of breastfeeding.
I have written my personal breastfeeding experiences here and have also encouraged many of my friends to breastfeed as well. Breastfeeding was truly one of the most fulfilling part about my being a mother.

Judy Ann Santos endorses Johnson's Baby Milk Bath
“Now that I’m already a mom, I find it hard to leave the house and spend time away from my loved ones. When you’re a mother, you are faced with decisions that will have a huge bearing on your family and children.” - Judy Ann Santos - Agoncillo
Last July 27, I attended the trade and media launch for the new spokesperson of Johnson's Baby Milk Bath -- Judy Ann Santos-Agoncillo.
It's no surprise why Johnson & Johnson's chose this award-winning, box office superstar as their endorser. Judy Ann, or Juday as she's fondly called, genuinely embraces her role as wife to Ryan, and mom to Yohan and baby Lucho. This was very evident during her tete-a-tete with host Angel Jacob, who also happens to be Godmother to Juday's daughter.
At the luncheon, Juday revealed that she grew up using J&J products, so she was very honored that her family was chosen to be part of the J&J family as brand ambassadors. She also shared her mothering style and how she balances her role as mother, wife, and actor. It is still a learning process for her and stressed that with these changes in her life, she makes sure that family comes first.
During the Q&A portion, I got lucky that my question card was picked and I was able to ask her what's the most memorable milestone of her baby Lucho. She proudly shared that it was when Lucho started to stand, seeing her baby boy achieve this is a great moment for her and the rest of the family. (That's me asking my question - thanks to Tina for this souvenir snapshot)
I've been using Johnson's Baby Milk Bath on my kids for many years now and I'm glad that Judy Ann mentioned about her pediatrician giving it a seal of approval for her children to use.
One of the most enjoyable bonding moments for me and my kids is during their bath time, either giving them a shower or playing and making bubbles in the bath tub.
The same goes for this lovely celebrity mom who, aside from cooking her family's favorite food, really looks forward to bathing her children.
Johnson's Baby Milk Bath is available at leading supermarkets.

Johnson’s Baby Milk Bath gently cleanses delicate skin and prevents dryness, which may lead to irritation. It has 100% more milk proteins and vitamins A and E that gives the necessary nourishment to skin. It's clinically proven mild and has 'no more tears' formula ensuring gentle cleansing for babies until their toddler years, and even for mommies.

I captured this video clip while Judy Ann describes how she genuinely feels about Johnson's Baby Milk Bath, making it a wise choice for discerning moms like her. I have to agree that after my kids bathe with it, their skin really do feel soft and moisturized. I used it on myself too a few times before! :)

Fave Finds at the Grand Baby Company Fair
All I can say is that this baby fair is truly grand -- a huge success with over 75 exhibitors and a throng of shoppers coming and going since it's opening day yesterday, and the long queue at the check-out lanes.
This baby fair will run until tomorrow, January 30, so better hurry and avail of huge discounts to complete your shopping for babies and toddlers.
I went with my girl yesterday and it was late in the day so, unfortunately, with the swelling crowd plus a restless girl in tow, I was not able get a closer look and take pictures at all the fabulous items on offer. Let me just tell you, this baby fair did not disappoint. With the widest range of merchandise from top bands in the baby industry, it would surely make your trip worth it, despite the discouraging long lines toward the counters.
Here she is standing at a distance from the Mimiflo bear mascot by the photo booth.
Just a few items I spied while walking around the booths:
A pregnant friend of mine asked me to find this First Years baby sleeper and luckily, they have the latest model, and it's also on sale! I told her the good news and she already went and got one today.
Since I don't have a baby anymore, I was just on the look-out for items that I can feature here, and maybe something for my four-year-old. As soon as we reached the Pigeon and Chicco booth, her eyes zoomed in on the shoes!!!
There she is again, this time, happily trying on the only "big-sized" girls' shoes which was a steal at P400! She wore it for the rest of the day. This was a no-brainer for me since I have been buying Chicco toddler shoes and sandals ever since my son could walk. He's now 7.
More styles available for the cutest stubby little feet.
After my girl was born, Playtex has been my preferred brand of baby bottles after using three other very popular brands I bought for my eldest. Their BPA-free VentAire bottles prevent bubbles and hiccups, and their DropIns Nurser bottle system with disposable milk liners are the best for me.
Toys, toys, toys! There were so many to choose from, and Fisher-Price has always been a top choice for most parents. I grew up with Fisher-Price and now my kids are enjoying their toys as well. I was very satisfied with our Fisher-Price baby bouncer and was happy to see that there are more designs to choose from compared to when I had my first baby seven years ago. Other personal favorites are Playgro, Tiny Love and V-Tech -- my kids all have toys from these durable and educational toy brands.
One of the more successful brands of all-natural baby care line is Indigo Baby. I love their massage oils and sprays. And now I found out they also have these baby-wearing gear for new moms. That's baby-wearing in style!
Of course, I also took home this value pack from Cetaphil, my daily facial cleanser for many years now. It's dermatologist-recommended, gentle, and hypo-allergenic. Perfect for all skin types. Which reminds me...I totally forgot to claim my free sampler after paying for this! :-(
I hope SM could add more cashier counters by tomorrow to accommodate hundreds, maybe thousands, of shoppers and avoid the build-up of super long lines, making customers waste hours just lining up to pay.
The highlight of our quick trip to the baby fair was meeting the very charming Ms. Christine Bersola-Babao, the creator of online parenting show ParentinTV. Her warmth and candor made her so endearing. It was such a pleasure to be able to chat with her and this brief and memorable encounter surely made my day!
She was one of the celebrity-mom guests during the parenting program, and you can still catch her tomorrow afternoon as she shares her experience with CordLife and cord blood banking. Incidentally, ParentinTV will be having an event entitled "I Love My Family" on February 6, 2:00 PM at The Podium mall in Ortigas Center, Pasig City.
Go and shop at the Grand Baby Company Fair, SM Megatrade Hall 2 & 3, until January 30 only.
Click here to see the line-up of activities and program schedule.

Scents By Hayden
This is off my usual post but for my local readers, I am hoping some may find this a bit interesting.
After watching a wonderful ballet show yesterday (watch out for this feature) at the Glorietta mall with the kids, we passed by this small retail kiosk and I thought I recognized this really tall guy hiding under a baseball cap, quietly arranging bottles and gift bags. I quickly pointed to our yaya (nanny) that it's the controversial model (celebrity?) hunk Hayden Kho! And of course you now know what happened next -- picture, picture! :)
As you can see, yaya was start-struck and all smiles, and the kids, oblivious to what was happening, just smiled and went along with the photo-op. I must admit, he was way better looking in person than on TV and print. The charming lad even tried to carry my girl for the picture, convincing her that he's "not a bad man". He failed to win her and ended up just giving her a spritz of the pink cologne. She loved it!
Eventually, other curious by-standers saw us taking photos and just as we thanked him and went our way, they too recognized the tall man by the counter and had their own photos taken with him.
My yaya was informed by the clerk that the colognes sell for P680.00 per 100ml bottle. I must admit, it does smell so delightful on my girl and the sweet scent enveloped our car on our way home! It reminded me so much of an imported brand but I can't seem to put my finger on it. For those who know me, you can bet this will haunt me for days until I match the Pink scent with the imported brand...(sigh)...

I admire him for personally attending to the product display and greeting his patrons as he introduced his own fragrance line branded simply as HAYDEN. It so happens that I recently read about his story from the November issue of Yes! magazine (Philippine edition), and from a newspaper feature. Know more about this controversial personality and read the whole back story here from the The Philippine Star (PhilStar.com).

Rockstar Arnel Pineda Goes Natural
International rock star. Talented Filipino artist. Lead vocalist of the iconic American rock band Journey. Family man. Philanthropist. This is Arnel Pineda.
With his current celebrity status, to be able to 'meet and greet' Arnel Pineda is a rare opportunity for anyone. So when I received an invitation to an intimate luncheon in his honor, I knew I could not pass up that chance. This would be his final conference before he leaves for Journey's upcoming world tour. Big thanks to Ms. Abbey Tomas of Protégé who facilitated this special media function.
After fetching the kids from school, we rushed and braved through lunch hour traffic, finally arriving at the popular Mann Hann Chinese restaurant in San Juan where the function was held. After a sumptuous lunch buffet, Arnel table-hopped for a tête-à -tête with the select group of media representatives. Luckily, our table was his last stop and my fellow bloggers just began their Q&A when I came in.
The very talented Arnel Pineda was warm, engaging and very down-to-earth. He was very open and candid with his stories and shared his passion for music, his humble beginnings, his foundation for underprivileged children, and how hard work and luck paved the way for the success he is now reaping. Having gone through many of life's challenges, the blessings he is now enjoying with his loved ones are truly well deserved. A genuine and naturally gifted Filipino, Arnel was chosen to become the spokesperson for natural health supplements, which can now be added to his many titles above.
The event served as the official introduction of Arnel Pineda as the latest corporate endorser of Nattural Quality Corporation.
NQC manufactures the famous Ampalaya Plus, vegetable and herbal supplement that helps prevent and control diabetes (ampalaya is bitter gourd). They also developed Ampalaya Plus Delite Herbal Tea, a healthy beverage with the same benefits as the capsule. Then there's Enduranz, containing tongkat ali which is a natural aphrodisiac for men and helps in male infertility and erectile problems.
With his very active and stressful lifestyle, Arnel Pineda swears by Enduranz, which he brings along wherever and whenever he goes on tour as it promotes men's overall health. Slenda is the company's answer to the growing problems in obesity and weight control. It has an all-natural formulation that contains resveratrol. NQC's latest product is Renalin, an herbal dietary supplement to help support the kidney.

For those not familiar with Arnel Pineda, watch Journey with Arnel here on Oprah, as he sings "Don't Stop Believing", and "Faithfully". The second one being, as Oprah puts it, "the song that got him the job" (as the band's frontman).

The event served as the official introduction of Arnel Pineda as the latest corporate endorser of Nattural Quality Corporation.
The mental and physical demands from his flourishing music career made him more conscious and appreciate the value of clean and healthy living. Arnel is all for safe and natural food supplements to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle, for himself and for his family. That's why he accepted to become the corporate ambassador for Nattural Quality Corporation (NQC)-- a Filipino-owned company that "develops and markets innovative herbal-based food supplements known to contain essential elements that help maintain good health and wellness."

After the brief rounds of personal interviews, Arnel happily obliged with requests for photographs and signed autographs. He even signed my cookbook (see bottom photo) complements of NQC! Also present were consultants from NQC, and members of the singer's entourage who proudly showed us a preview of the final TV commercial with Arnel as their newest endorser.
"Bibilib ka sa galing ng Pilipino!" -- Arnel Pineda
(Loose translation: You'll be impressed with the Filipino's abilities / natural gifts! )

This was one memorable event for me and my blog buddies, for sure! It's not everyday that you get to meet, and even interact with an international rock star! To quote Arnel: "Mabuhay Pinoy!"

p.s.
After a busy weekend, I tried the Ampalaya Delite Herbal Tea and it was so fragrant, soothing and relaxing. I recommend you try it, even if you are not diabetic like me :) I liked the calamansi (calamondin) flavor and hint of ginger spice. You can barely taste the bitterness of the ampalaya. Take it hot or cold with a teaspoon of honey and enjoy! Soon, I will try some dishes from this cookbook by Ms. Susana Guerrero with Renal Diet recipes.
Cheers to health and wellness!
