Family Shoe Shopping at RES|TOE|RUN

I love shoes! I enjoy shopping for shoes, not just for myself but for J and the kids as well. To be honest, it is quite difficult to find hip and functional shoes for the boy and the girl coz they're both in the tween and teen ages. We usually go from one store to another just to see what's available for them. Problem solved for us coz Res|Toe|Run has expanded their children's footwear line in the past two years. So there's now more choices for the whole family in one store!

Create and Broadcast YouTube Videos from SMART Launchpad Upload Stations

"I want to be a famous YouTuber."  That's what my son tells me. Aside from wanting to be an artist when he grows up, he also wants to create his own video games and share them online. But he still needs to learn how to create better-quality content and learn coding. Even the girl is into YouTube tutorials and toy shows. Nung panahon ko, TV is our main medium when it comes to entertainment and information. Nowadays, YouTube and other social media channels rule. Good thing, SMART recognizes the creativity of the Filipino youth kaya they recently unveiled #OwnIt -- a campaign to empower the youth to pursue their passions, channel their creativity, and broadcast their talents to the world via SMART Launchpad.

Fun Friday: Batik Dyeing Workshop

Third Friday of the month:  Events / Crafts and Recreation

Paisley is one of my favorite prints. It's swirls and intricate details make it more alluring and kinda exotic. This is the print I wanted for my first batik dyeing project. I was actually not supposed to be at the event due to conflict of schedule, but unexpectedly, it freed up and I immediately asked if there was still a slot left for me 'coz I really wanted to attend. To quote Paulo Coelho, "and when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it." So, I made it, and I even won the contest! Meant to be? I believe so!

Easter Eggventure Island in Century City Mall

Hello everyone! How did you spend the (Holy Week) break?
We don't usually plan anything during the Holy week, and on occasion, we simply drive to an out-of-town destination or do a Visita Iglesia on Maundy Thursday. This year, we had nothing planned and only looked forward to the Easter Sunday event we got invited to at Century City Mall. We're excited because it's our first time to join an egg hunt and celebration like this! =)

Mini Melissa Steps Out in Style

When I'm invited to an event that allows me to bring any of my kids, it really gets me excited. That means sharing a unique experience with my kids while also enjoying the company of my friends. That's what happened during the launch of Mini Melissa footwear recently. I love shoes (who doesn't?) and I love my pointy red flocked Melissa shoes. I know my girl will have fun discovering Mini Melissa at this mom-and-me event!

Foodie Friday: Dreaming of Duck & Buvette's Duck Confit

First Friday of the month:  Food Finds / Dining

I can't believe I haven't written about any of my gastronomic adventures for over a year! If you've been a regular here on the blog, you know I share simple recipes almost every month. But I'm a foodie at heart and so you'll often see most of what I'm eating over at my Instagram and other social network sites instead. I realized I'm just not so fond of featuring dining establishments. You'll get plenty of that from many food bloggers around. From time to time, there are a few stand-out meals that I just can't get out of my mind, even weeks after I've digested them! This particular Duck Confit is one of those very memorable dishes that I'd gladly make space for in this blog.

Fun Friday: Ice Skating at SM Megamall

Third Friday of the month:  Leisure and Recreation / Hobby / Sport

Have you been to the new ice skating rink at SM Megamall? It's bigger (I think) and better than before! I brought my girl yesterday since she was curious and fascinated with ice skating for quite some time now.  She clearly had a blast with her classmates that she's now bugging me to schedule a few hours on the ice again.

Petit Bateau Sails to the Philippines

If you love stripes and basic tees like I do, then you'll be smitten with Petit Bateau. The 120-year old clothing brand from Troyes, France has now expanded in the country and I was fortunate to view their latest collections at a nautical inspired fashion show which kicked off the brand's launch at SM Aura Premier last weekend.

Handyman Family Day at Robinsons Place Manila

I discovered Handyman at their first branch in Robinsons Galleria in the late 90s.  I frequent the mall back then, when I was still working in Ortigas Center.  I saw how the store grew after it partnered with US-based hardware Do It Best, and now they have a wider variety of high quality imported products to address a multitude of needs by homeowners, builders, and designers.

Toys "R" Us and the New Robinsons Magnolia

It was like 3 years ago that I've been passing by this construction site in New Manila everyday to and from my boy's preschool.  I often wondered when this building will be completed and how it will change this quiet neighborhood where I grew up.

Last August 13, I was one of the first to visit this newest mall in Quezon City on its opening day.  Together with a few blogger friends, I was invited to the opening of the 15th Toys "R" Us store in the country, located in the spanking new Robinsons Magnolia.

The simple opening ceremony was graced by representatives from Toys "R" Us Philippines, mall officials, as well as adorable kids in cute costumes.

The girl was more excited since I promised her a treat if she goes with me to the opening.  Her class starts after lunch so the timing of the event was just perfect!

The Toys "R" Us Magnolia store is significantly smaller than their branch in Galleria, but they still carry all of my kids' favorite toys, plus the fact that it's conveniently located too.

Of course, the girl came home all giddy that day -- proud of the new addition to her My Little Pony collection, and a surprise toy for big brother.  We went back again a week later, this time with the whole family.  We went home with new toys, including this game set enjoyed by my boys.

Aside from Toys "R" Us, there are more shops that I am looking forward to visiting soon.

Contemporary dining chairs at the food court

I appreciate the super sleek and modern interiors, I like the feeling of space all around.

Unlike other malls where it can get really cramped at times, the bright lighting, wide hallways, and high ceiling make for a more pleasurable shopping experience here at Robinsons Magnolia.

I'm happy there's a new toy store and mall in this side of the city, closer to where I used to live.  But nostalgia hits me every time since this landmark brings happy childhood memories.  My family used to dine at the old Magnolia House where this mall now stands, and buy the ice cream 'Flavor of The Month' from the store.  Good thing they opened a quaint Magnolia Ice Cream parlor by the garden area of the mall that I have yet to visit.  That's gonna be my next stop when I go back to the mall again one of these days.

Robinsons Magnolia is located at the corner of Hemady Street and Aurora Blvd. in New Manila, Quezon City, where the old Magnolia Ice Cream House and factory used to be.
