Online shopping is a hard habit to break. The ease and convenience of shopping with just a few swipes and taps make it all the more enticing and satisfying. It saves me a lot of time and effort while being free from traffic! For international purchases, I've been ordering from Amazon for almost two decades now. Items are shipped to my sister-in-law in the U.S., who consolidates all our orders in a balikbayan box. We just have to wait long since it takes at least a month by sea to get here. But I got introduced to My Shopping Box, an international parcel delivery and courier service company that ships orders from the U.S. and Europe, by air or sea, and delivers directly to our doorstep here in the Philippines.

I can't believe the first quarter of the year is almost over. It's gonna be Holy Week next week and many are expected to be taking a vacation or long break. I will also be having a short break online -- I consider it a sacrifice, as I've done in the past. No blog post on Good Friday. But today is the last Friday of my birthday month and I want to make this a really exciting post. I've been on a "shopping drought" lately, if you noticed, so let me end the quarter with these unique finds that are all worth your hard-earned moolah! =)
Compared to the past years, I haven't been able to attend blogger events even if I wanted to, mainly due to my homeschooling and fetching duties, among others. I was actually surprised, and lucky to be able to attend and have fun at three events -- all in one month! This was totally unexpected and a welcome change to my routine.
Enough with the back story and let me show you my #MomFridayFinds for this month! I will also post the albums of each event on My Mom-Friday Facebook page.
Get ready to shop after reading this! =)
CHICIFY.COM
During the Chicify Shopping Party, I was able to view most of the brands they carry and was quite pleased with the price points and variety being offered. Since it's an online store, having the party was a great opportunity to actually touch and feel, and fit the clothes, which made me buy this Chicify 'Chin Culottes' in gray, and a Sexy White Tee. There were cool animal printed dresses, tunics, and summery maxi dresses that you can choose from, as well as statement pieces like this ethnic clutch from Quiver and accessories from House of Heirloom. Leather "mandals" from Cole Vintage are best-sellers as well.
I also got to bring home this very light and comfy navy jersey top courtesy of our friend Pam of Willow Clothing. One of the most versatile designs that will flatter any figure is the batwing, and this one comes in short sleeves or pullover. Anybody, any shape and size, can wear this style. There were dresses and two-way button-down shirts too! You can find Willow Clothing over at Chicify.com or in SM department stores (Megamall, Makati, North Edsa, Cubao, Mall of Asia, BF ParaƱaque), and The Ramp (Glorietta and Trinoma).

Easy online Shopping at:
L'INDOCHINE
L’Inodchine (pronounced Lahn-doe-sheen) recently conducted their first L'Indochine Workshop at their flagship store in SM Megamall. I will tell you more about it on another blog feature. For now, I'll focus on their interesting array of well-curated items with modern Asian style that the shop has been known for since it opened in 2013. You can expect hard-to-find items from India, Myanmar, Indonesia and Thailand.
The lifestyle concept store features a limited collection of fashionable pieces, home furniture and accents that will surely add a boho touch to your style and exotic Asian feel for your home. From intricate batik printed wooden trays, eclectic Cermin Dinding Rono mirrors from Indonesia, to embroidered bags and clutches from India and Thailand, you're sure to discover some very interesting "treasure" in the store. These make great gifts too.

CALIMA JEWELLERY
Calima Jewellery (British spelling) was founded by Bogota native Claudia Hernandez, a long-time Manila resident who pioneered in pre-Columbian jewelry in the Philippines almost two decades ago. Calima jewelries are authentic artisan-crafted pieces that include hand-made reproductions of the El Dorado pre-Columbian treasures, only seen in the world famous Gold Museum in Bogota.
It was just last Wednesday that I got to meet the woman behind Calima, and my friends and I were in awe at how each piece of jewelry was made -- very exquisite, and reasonably priced. According to Ms. Hernandez, these one-of-a-kind pieces are made using the "lost-wax process" (an ancient process casting metal sculptures from wax molds). Her eye-catching pieces are crafted from brass metal and plated with either pure silver or a mixture of 24K and 18K gold, giving them depth and intense colors. The designs incorporate selected semi-precious stones like carnelian, sodalite, amethyst, jasper, onyx, and agate, resulting in the most stunning pieces that celebrate ancient craftsmanship and cultural ingenuity.
Look what I tried on -- a chain of gold and carnelian beads with a golden lizard pendant. This is on my wishlist! (Thanks Tina, for this close-up shot of the necklace). In addition to jewelry, Calima also sells colorful hand-woven Wayuu bags (mochilas) and belts intricately hand-crafted by members of Colombia's native Wayuu tribe. Every purchase helps the indigenous tribes that created them.

Door-to-door Delivery from US Online Shops to Philippines with POBox.ph and BPI Cards
I find online shopping very convenient and had generally good experience with the local and US online stores we buy from. However, many of the international sites don't ship to the Philippines. We're lucky that my sis-in-law lives in the US address and she prepares our balikbayan box to be shipped here. For many of my friends who don't have a delivery address in the US, finding a reliable courier for door-to-door deliveries is a challenge. Recently, I discovered BPI cards' tie-up with Philippine Online Box (Pobox.ph). All you need to do is shop, pay via BPI cards, and POBox ships direct to the Philippines, anytime of the year!
Christmas season is just weeks away and, like me, I know Filipinos love to shop and send balikbayan boxes loaded with gifts for relatives here. Actually, I'm already in the middle of my Christmas shopping. Check out the stuff I've been browsing over at Amazon, Target, and Zappos. =)
Great news for those with no US address - POBox.ph provides the delivery address for you and will then ship your orders door-to-door in approximately 5 weeks! What's more, if you are a BPI cardholder, you get 10% discount on POBox shipping fees until January 15, 2014!

Of course, I shopped for myself too! =) Lots of items are on sale now, like personal care items, and the spring and summer collections of shoes and bags. - Go shopping at your favorite US online stores and have items delivered to POBox warehouse address

- Go to your POBox account and fill out shipping forms
- Settle your shipping fees with any of the participating BPI cards and get 10% discount
- Enter first six (6) digits of your card number as promo codeupon payment of shipment
- Wait for your package to be delivered at your doorstep

Mom-Finds: The Blues
Last Friday of the month: Finds and Faves / Shopping / Fashion
My month-end Mom-Finds have been mostly stuff for kids. I realized I have not been shopping for myself that much, except for some gastronomic indulgences. Hence, today's feature will be all about my fashion finds - which are predominantly in blue! Check them out:
SM Accessories
Last summer, I featured here some pretty clothes for the girl courtesy of SM Kids Fashion. This time, it's all about accessories, and I scored this charming double-layered necklace with pearl beads, feather charms, and medallions. Aside from the eye-catching mix of accents, I love the vintage feel and cool combination of cream with gold and shades of blue.

Mom-Finds: Online Shopping at Taste Central
Last Friday of the month: Finds and Faves / Shopping
I've been shopping online since I was expecting my first child, and only with Amazon.com. We have the items shipped to my sis-in-law in the US, then sent here via balikbayan box. In recent years, more local online shops and deal sites have sprouted, and I found a few I regularly check on, offering nice merchandise, ease in ordering, and hassle-free deliveries.
I'd love to know your thoughts on this post. If you enjoyed this, feel free to share it!

After discovering Taste Central, I was immediately impressed with their premium selection of merchandise. The site looks classy too, and they are the official retail partner of my favorite group buying site, Deal Grocer. I like DG, so I know Taste Central will be good too.
"We strive to make sure you simply adore everything you’ll discover on Taste Central – whether it’s world-class furniture, luxury linens, exotic healing oils, kitchen gadgets, or epicurean treasures to stock in your pantry."
There's truth in their claim. However, they only carry limited stocks and many of their goods get sold out fast. Most brands on offer are not readily available in the local market, as you will see on their main page above, making them more desirable. I actually waited for new stocks before I could purchase some items I wanted.
What I like about Taste Central:
- Sells premium local and imported brands
- Feature product categories, from personal care to kid stuff, food to home accessories
- Neat layout, easy to navigate the site
- Option to Add items to Wish List
- Option to place items on Wait list
- Straightforward description of products, some with dimensions and features
- Well-packed goods; comes in sturdy brown boxes
- Several payment options, including credit card and PayPal
- Log-In using Facebook, or with Deal Grocer (no need to register if you have Deal Grocer account already)
- Launches new items and stocks every Sunday
- Fast delivery
Their selection is on the pricey side, but that's expected from the brands they carry. You get what you pay for, of course. Shipping fee is a flat rate of Php100 - not cheap either, so it's best to combine all your orders in one delivery.
"Good Taste Has Arrived... in less than 24 hours from the time my order was acknowledged!"
Pretty impressive since they note that delivery is within 3 business days. I shared this photo on my Instagram when I received the package. Thanks to Taste Central, I was able to shop and got a little something for myself, for hubby, for the home, and for the kids on the first go.
The box was big enough to fill a seat, but is only half-filled when I opened it. Maybe they can produce a box that's half this size next time? Fragile items were neatly packed in kraft paper and bubble-wrapped. The choco-cookies held up well, and delivery guy was quick to mention to our maid that it needed to be refrigerated immediately.
I got this yummy lip balm from Pangea Organics since I've been having chapped lips lately. I love the hint of sweetness and spice in this flavor, and it's bigger than the standard size.
This zen-style Loveramics Er-go! Large Tea Set is perfect for steeping my favorite teas at home. I wish there were four cups that go with this big pot.
I missed out on the first batch of Belgian Lace Cookies by The Delightful Miss Joyce, so I got 2 packs this time for J and myself. Addicting!
I wanted to be selfish and buy stuff just for me. Then, I found these Dwell Studio Handy Scribble Kits - so hard to resist since the boy and the girl enjoy drawing so much, wherever, whenever! And this Adorable Stamp Set is also too cute to pass up.
Once you add item/s in your cart, Taste Central only reserves the item/s for you for 30 minutes. If you don't check-out by then, it's up for grabs again. I had my eye on a few items before:
No size for this leather gold sandals...
...and this travel set was gone even before I browsed the site.
They have fresh stocks every Sunday. Last weekend, I checked for new items. I saw the Shu Uemura Skin Radiance Set I missed, and it's back on sale. My skin is hiyang with this brand so, I decided to order 2 sets last Tuesday. =) Here's the cute box that arrived next day. I'm pleased that they have a small box for few and tiny items - it's about 1/6 of the big one.
Start your easy weekend shopping at Taste Central and you might just find some unique and tasteful finds for you and your family!

Mom-Finds: Dizzy Dress Forever™
Last Friday of the month: Shopping Finds / Fashion / Kid-Style
"Oooh... it's big and twirly!"
That's the first thing M said as soon as she put on her birthday dress last January 8.
It's been over a year since Tricia, the creative genius behind this fun twirly dress, introduced me to her dresses by inviting me to one of her trunk shows (is that what you call it?) in Alabang. I wasn't able to go at that time, and the girl was not so much into dresses and prefers leggings and pants so I held off from buying a dress for her. Truth be told, I wanted the dress! =)
M was excited to show off her Dizzy Dress Forever™ in school on her birthday, as featured here: The Girl is 6.
This is the ultimate mother-and-daughter-approved multi-way dress for girls!
I'd love to know your thoughts on this post. If you enjoyed this, feel free to share it!

Fast forward to November last year, Tricia launched her Dizzy Dress Forever™ - "one big happy reversible, twirly dress, jumper & skirt!"
As soon as I saw it on Facebook, I quickly showed it to M and asked if she'd like to wear something like that. Of course, with all the spinning and twirling photos, she wanted one too! We both agreed I will buy it and reserve the dress for her birthday since she already asked for lots of gifts for Christmas. It was a done deal.
Last December, I was finally able to buy a Dizzy Dress™ for my girl as an advanced birthday gift.

Dizzy Dress™
The first and only pretty, twirly, reversible, adjustable, DIY decorate-it-yourself dress that moms and kids will love.
Dizzy Dress™ contains some or all of the following materials: cotton nylon & rayon spandex and a range of woven cottons and cotton blends like chiffon, organza, tulle mesh, chaliss, batiste, muslin, voile. Loads of stretch means loads of growing room.
M doesn't want to model for me so I just took photos of the dress on how to wear it in different ways.
How to wear the Dizzy Dress Forever™:
- Printed sundress with adjustable spaghetti straps
- Fully reversible - if you want a plain dress
- Wear as full skirt
- Wear as tube dress with halter straps
- Sundress with criss-cross straps at the back
- Wear as jumper over a plain shirt
What I like about Dizzy Dress™:
- Fully reversible
- Vibrant prints
- Made with soft, quality fabric
- Unique, versatile, and timeless design
- Adjustable straps with room to grow in
- Wash and wear
- Generous amount of material for maximum twirling fun! =)
I also love that this Forever dress come in paisley prints, combined with a denim-like material. The dress is not cheap - more than double the price of an ordinary dress, but it's not just one dress... everything I listed up there makes the Dizzy Dress™ totally worth it. You do get what you paid for, and the fun factor is priceless.
I posted this shot on Instagram the first time she tried it on (as a jumper) and twirled 'til she went dizzy, literally!
Watch her spin and twirl in this 14-sec. video:
M was excited to show off her Dizzy Dress Forever™ in school on her birthday, as featured here: The Girl is 6.
Once it's on, it's so hard to stop her from twirling!
