From Monggo to Captain America with #SigeSabado Playbox

We're in the middle of summer and I am running out of activities to keep the kids occupied. If we don't do something, I'll lose to the iPad! The boy has drum classes twice weekly but the girl... well, we all decided not to enroll her at any summer program this year. She agreed to guitar lessons when she turns 8, which is next year.  I did prepare a calendar for them this summer, and so far, it's going pretty well.  But there are days when they just don't want to follow what we've planned for the day.  Two weeks ago, this big playbox arrived from Breeze - it was heaven-sent!

Mom-Finds: Mad About Stripes

Last Friday of the month:  Fashion / Shopping

Stripes will never go out of style.  A striped tee is a wardrobe staple, a very versatile piece that can be dressed up or down.  That goes for kids wear too.

After Christmas, my girl and I went malling and I was thrilled to discover these classic breton shirts from Uniqlo - for kids! Naturally, I bought one for the girl, and then she received another top as a birthday gift.  We love 'em!

I like how soft and smooth the material is - still comfortable and cool to wear with our warm climate even if it comes in long sleeves.  Presko pa rin.  It's reasonably priced at PhP500+ and comes in different colors.  My girl just turned 7 and can still fit in size 120, and comfortable with ample allowance in a 130.

We also picked up this pretty gartered blouse with our Pois Belly and Kids christmas gift cards.  It has a unique shoulder detail, with a bunny patch design on dark pink stripes.  Click on the photo to see how she wore it after new year.

This button-down bubble dress is also from Pois Belly and Kids.  She wore this during her birthday lunch celebration with the whole family.  It's so chic with the thin yellow belt.

I wrote about my fave breton shirt here from Zara.  This black and white striped tee below is another style from their organic cotton collection, at PhP995.  Again, very light and comfy.  This is as basic as you can get.

I'm excited about the new arrivals from Elin - I am eyeing the blue and white stripes on the left. The front pockets make for interesting details.  Check out the Madeline collection here.

You can't go wrong with these stripes!
Happy shopping! =)

Mom-Finds: Trendy Kids' Wear from Gingersnaps

Last Friday of the month:  Fashion / Shopping / Kid-Style

When I think of local children's clothing brands, there are very few that come to mind, and topping the short list is Gingersnaps.  From their chic maternity wear (which saved me from looking frumpy during my two pregnancies) to stylish children's wear, Gingersnaps has been a trend-setter, producing world-class design and quality clothing for almost 20 years.

Updating My Wardrobe with Basic Tops

If you get a peek at my closet, you'd surely be surprised that I only have very limited articles of clothing.  My wardrobe consists mainly of the staple denim jeans and comfy tops that allow me to go from school, to grocery, to casual dinners with friends -- many of which are older than my pre-schooler!

Mom-Finds: Christmas Gift Ideas for Kids

Last Friday of the month:  Mom-Finds & Raves / Shopping

So it's that time of the year again...holiday gift shopping for family and friends... and kids are on the top of my priority list.

I posted a simple list last year, mostly composed of toys.  For sure, many of those are now sitting behind shelves or buried deep in their toy chests.  This time, I thought I'd share some "non-toy" items that I can recommend for your shopping list this year which has a longer shelf life, so to speak. And as a parent, I'd certainly appreciate receiving these for my kids... and not without violent reactions from the kids, heehee!  You know, sometimes, I just need to break that chain of toys, toys, toys! Don't you agree?

Aside from highly educational and entertaining picture and story books that always make for great presents, here's a variety of gift suggestions with different price points -- for God children, relatives, friends, neighbors' kids  and schoolmates:

GREEN SPROUTLETS
Eco-friendly children's apparel and accessories using mainly certified bamboo, organic cotton, and other sustainable fabrics such as soy or hemp -- ultra-soft fabric that is hypoallergenic too! Ideal for babies and kids with sensitive skin.
  • For infants and kids, boys and girls up to 5 y.o.
  • In onesies/bodysuit, tees, pants, blankets, and bip & burp cloth set --from PhP495 & up
  • Modern, colorful design - being organic does not mean boring and neutral designs.
