Fun Friday: Bingo Night with the ICA Spirants

Third Friday of the month: Events / Celebrations

I've spent 13 years in an exclusive girls' school - from kinder through fourth year high school, where I had some of the most memorable experiences of my life. High school was the best, of course, mainly because those were the years of self-discovery and gaining lifelong friends whom I now treasure dearly.

I can't believe it's been 25 years since I graduated from ICA! I'm proud to be an ICAN.

We are the SPIRANT- Immaculate Conception Academy graduates of 1991. There's no denying, mga titas na talaga kami, and come November is our homecoming as silver jubilarians.

As we prepare for the homecoming of the Spirants, fund-raising activities and get-togethers have been organized to pool ideas and contributions for "ICAN Inspire" event. The most recent dinner was our Bingo Night held last February 5 to usher in the Chinese New Year.

The sumptuous dinner was held at Choi Garden in Greenhills and while we wished that more could join that night, each of the four sections were well represented. Faith, Hope, Charity, Fidelity. Yep, we only had 4 sections then and if my memory serves me right, our batch is less than 150 students only.

Here are the Bingo winners that evening, taking home kitchen appliances, gadgets, accessories, food and personal care products, and top prizes like a ceiling fan and an LCD TV.  Ang saya lang!

It's always good to see old familiar faces, to reminisce and reconnect. A few balikbayan batchmates also made it that night, and as expected, it was a riotous celebration filled with nostalgia and camaraderie. From the delicious meal to the nerve-wracking Bingo game, loud and endless chikahan, and lots of LOL moments, I'd say our CNY dinner cum Bingo night was a success.

Part of the evening's program was an update of our fund-raising projects and homecoming program. We hope you can support our projects for the benefit of the ICA scholarship fund and the Missionaries of the Immaculate Conception.

Aside from the two successful garage sales last year, which will have a repeat this year, we also launched these cute and precious sterling silver ICA Charms and the leather-bound I Can Inspire Notebooks and Journals. Bili na kayo! =)

Calling all ICA parents, students and ICANs in and out of the country, order now and own these limited edition #ICANinspire keepsakes or give them as gifts too! Share the love!

Family Friday: Taking a Break from the Hustle

Second Friday of the month:  Motherhood / Lifestyle

The New Year of the Fire Monkey has just entered last Monday and my whole month is already full of activities. Looking over my calendar makes me feel stressed and excited at the same time. Lots of things to look forward to, really. Between home management, homeschooling the boy, tutoring the girl, and squeezing dates with J, I know I need to carve out some time for myself. Remember: happy wife, happy life. =)

Sweet Smiles All The Way with Oral-B

When I was younger, I had several dental procedures that went from regular cleaning to tooth fillings and major tooth extractions. I think I had all my molars filled in my earlier years due to poor brushing habits and dental caries. Good thing I did not end up getting a root canal. After college, I also suffered from tooth decay and gingivitis mainly caused by plaque buildup, and I wouldn't want that to happen again!

First Friday of the month: Restaurant / Foodie Finds

My family loves Asian cuisine. Whenever we think of family restos, we usually end up dining from favorites that offer Chinese, Japanese, and Korean dishes. It's always a safe bet for us, even on special occasions. For families like us who are always on the lookout for good Asian food, you can now include Kiwa Korean Grill, the newest fine dining destination down south, in your list of go-to Korean restaurants.

Seared Scallops on Sautéd Kale

Over the weekend, J and I headed to S&R to grab a few items, including his frozen peeled shrimps/prawns. His stir-fry shrimps was a hit so he got inspired to cook it again. While he got his pack, I saw these jumbo sea scallops that I've been eyeing for the longest time but was scared to buy. It's pricey, so I wanted to make sure I can find a good recipe and be able to cook it right to avoid wasting these beauties. But what the heck, I was so tempted and craving already, so J agreed to just go for it and buy a pack. Bahala na kung anong luto! =)
