When I think of local children's clothing brands, there are very few that come to mind, and topping the short list is Gingersnaps. From their chic maternity wear (which saved me from looking frumpy during my two pregnancies) to stylish children's wear, Gingersnaps has been a trend-setter, producing world-class design and quality clothing for almost 20 years.
Last Tuesday, I had the pleasure of meeting the lovely ladies behind Gingersnaps at an intimate luncheon they hosted for a select group of blogging mamas. I've known the brand since the late 90s. When I was pregnant, Gingersnaps was my go-to shop for hip and well-designed pieces that grew with my belly, while some tops I was able to wear even after birth. It's a natural progression for me, having worn Gingersnaps maternity wear, to dressing up my babies in their stylish children's wear, until today. That's why, it's wonderful to learn the history of our well-loved brand and it's humble beginnings.
Gingersnaps regularly comes out with capsule collections in different themes. Recently, they launched their Flamingo Collection with brightly hued pieces for girls and boys. I was not able to join the group to shop after our lunch in Greenbelt. Instead, I went to the branch near me and got some nice clothes from the latest collection for my boy and girl.

For the cool dudes - I'm really liking these mixed fabric short-sleeved polo shirts in varied checkered prints.
You can't go wrong with chambray. I decided to go with the classic style on the left for my boy.
Since the boy refused to model for this post, I thought I'd try it on.... and voila, it fits! Hahaha... this is a size 12, slightly fitted on the chest and hip, but I'm sure I can comfortably wear one in size 16! =)

It's more fun to shop for girls. That's a fact. With endless choices of tops, bottoms, dresses, and accessories, you'd want to get them all especially with new styles coming out almost every month! Look how cute and funky these printed tops are, paired with denim shorts.
Did I tell you the girl is into peacock prints like this one? As soon as I saw this cropped shirt, I knew I had to get one and surprise her. On display with the shirt is this delicate sequined shorts in bold flamingo pink-red color. Fancy no? =)
Obviously, she likes it! =)

I was torn between these two dresses on display...
I went for this floral-print dress with a gartered drop-waist design, which also came with a gray inner camisole.

Did you know?
- 'Gingersnaps' brand name came from the tea time biscuit in a story from one of the owner's childhood favorite book, Enid Blyton's Famous Five books.
- In 2014, Gingersnaps will celebrate 20 years in the maternity and children's clothing business.
- Gingersnaps has outlets in 6 other countries, namely: Thailand, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Saudi Arabia and UAE
- All clothes are manufactured in the Philippines using imported and pre-tested quality fabrics and materials, safe for babies and children.
- Designs are all original from Gingersnaps' in-house design team.
Their story is truly inspiring, and I now have a better appreciation for the clothes they create. With their unwavering commitment to high standards of quality and design innovation, it's no wonder that Gingersnaps is country's leading brand for maternity and children's wear that we all grew to love and continue to patronize.
