What I Packed for a Weekend Beach Getaway

Last Mother's Day weekend, I was with my family for a two-night stay at Pico de Loro in Hamilo Coast, Nasugbu, Batangas.  We stayed at the Pico Sands Hotel and enjoyed the resort's amenities at their Beach and Country Club.

We are not frequent travelers, and we usually just plan a trip to a beach resort during summer.  Packing for a summer outing is as basic as it can get. Unlike some friends who have sets of wardrobe specifically for resort wear, I on the other hand, don't even own a two-piece bikini, a stylish cover-up, nor a decent pair of shorts!  (I have chicken legs so I don't wear shorts, unless ratty house shorts count.)

If you're not yet bored after reading my second paragraph, then you may now proceed to browse through the basic I that I packed for our family excursion at Pico de Loro.

Proud Mary foldable stroller bag is absolute genius!  My friend gave me this last Christmas and this is my first time to use it. I packed all my personal stuff in this travel bag. It's light, water-repellent, and convenient to use.

Thanks to Mich of KIT (Keeping It Together), this travel kit she sent me proved very useful for my toiletries -- all neatly organized in this clear plastic pouch.  It holds the essentials like By Nature Sunblock Away and lip balm, face wash and moisturizer, body spray, Human Nature baby oil, and other basic personal care items.

A few tunics and cover-ups, comfy espadrilles, fave Ipanema rubber thongs and gold sandals.

When travelling, bringing the right kind of undergarments is as important as the wardrobe. Remember my post about getting new bras? Well, here they are...
I packed the white bandeau and my favorite multi-way bras from Wacoal since they are so versatile with their detachable straps.

My hair can get pretty wild and pouffy especially when air-dried, so I always bring headbands and ponytail elastics to keep my mane neat and in place.

Of course, I could not swim without my trusty halter tankini bought years ago, a rash guard, goggles, and board shorts.

Every time we go swimming, my nails get chipped at some point, hence the nail clipper and emery board. Plus, more must-haves like a water-proof watch, sun glasses, Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer, plaster strips, and a classic accessory like hoop earrings.

I most definitely will not leave without my camera!

It's a totally different list for the kids.
You can see here that we brought their kick boards (which they also attempted to use as surf boards), beach toys, rash guards, bath robes, among others.
And we can't forget to bring a gadget for the boy and the girl to keep them preoccupied while on the road.

So what do you pack for a beach destination?
