Home-Style: A Splash of Red, Black and White

I'm really glad that there are five Fridays on my birth month. For the regulars here, you know that having five Fridays in a month would make the 4th one as an anything-goes post, thus Freestyle Friday. It's also the best time to launch a new section for the blog -- and this one has been in the works way too long.

Introducing...

HOME-STYLE: a special section where I get to share my love for beautiful interiors and home design.
Home-Style shall feature design inspirations from real homes, with real stories behind the furniture pieces, accessories, theme, or colors that make up a beautiful dwelling for couples and families.

I am thrilled to present my first Home-Style feature today. What makes this extra special is the fact that the couple who resides in this spanking new flat are friends of mine from my previous work, and whom I've helped during their wedding planning days.  Theirs was the last full event I've organized, and now, we've come full circle with this spread on their stylish home.

FRAMES: NYTTJA - IKEA;  PILLOWS:  IKEA and LIFESTOREY;  STOOL: SOLSTA PALLBO - IKEA

Red, black, and white colors, with minimalist design dominate this 68 sqm. unit that befits this couple's fun, quirky, and uber creative personalities.  Welcome to the home of CJ and Chevy, from the land of the merlion, in swinging Singapore!

1. What's your home design philosophy and style inspiration?
Our design philosophy is having a home that will make you love eating, sleeping, cleaning, hanging out, and living in. Our style and function for the flat is to make it minimal and practical, so it's easy to maintain. The open concept layout makes everything easy to find.

DINING CHAIRS:  EAMES DW CHAIR BY VITRA
TV CONSOLE: SONY BRAVIE NX720;  SIDEBOARD: PS LOCKER - IKEA;  TRASHBIN - IKEA

2. Why or how did you decide on the look and colors of your home?
The colors represent us (we're both cleaning addicts and fun-loving). Our basic color is white, with black accent, touches of red and wood element. With these colors, our modest 68-sqm. flat will look bigger.
DOORSTOPPER: 'JAMES THE DOORMAN' - BLACK+BLUM
SHELF:  LADDER SHELF - ODDJECTS
CLOCK: 'NEVER OUT OF STYLE CLOCK' - KARLSSON
3. What are you 5 favorite design elements from your house?

(1) Muuto pendant lights, from one of the best scandinavian designers

(2) Eames DSW chair for a classy retro touch (1950s)

(3) Kartells Componibili storage unit for its timeless design 1969

(4) Custom framed graphics from our wedding

(5) Multi purpose kitchen -- grill, fry, bake, chop, wash, etc.
KITCHEN: DOMINO HOBS - ARISTON;  HOOD - BRANDT;  RED WATERBOILER: BODUM
"With it's layout, everything is easy to reach and store, and the cabinets don't bang because of it's soft-close mechanism."
OVEN AND FRIDGE: BOSCH;  PANTRY UNIT: HAFELE

And more interesting furnishings and accents...
MIRROR: COSME-CABI;  LIGHT: MUUTO e27; TAP: HANSGROHE TALIS S2

SOFABED: PS - IKEA;  SUEDE BEANBAG: BEAN BAG MART
SIDE TABLES: COMPONIBILI - KARTELL;  LIGHTS:  MUUTO e27 PENDANT; BED: Custom
Happy housewarming C & C! Thank you for giving us a 'tour' of your hip and contemporary flat. :)
