7 Things to Love About Hotel H2O

Who doesn't love a staycation? It's a mini vacation without going too far away from home and we're so fortunate to have experienced different accommodations from top hotels in and out of the metro. One such memorable weekend for us was spent at Hotel H2O in Luneta, Manila and that was four years ago. While we've stayed in other hotels since then, Hotel H2O remains to be unforgettable especially for the kids, and let me share with you again why. Some weeks ago, we were invited to revisit this unique establishment. Perfect timing, kasi it was the last weekend before school starts for the girl, so one last hurrah to close the summer break.

"Hotel H2O desires to astound as we draw inspiration from the ocean.
The rooms and suites regale you with their floor-to-ceiling windows, even animating your surroundings with aquarium walls and an underwater theme.
As the first and only aquarium-themed hotel in the country, Hotel H2O’s architecture blends harmoniously with its natural environment." www.hotelh2o.com

My family was warmly welcomed during our first stay in Hotel H2O and I'm happy to say we had the same fun experience a few weeks ago when we checked in for Father's Day weekend. You can read all about our first visit in detail here.

So, after four years, we're back in Hotel H2O. Up until we arrived, we had no idea what room we'll be staying in. Basta excited lang kami to be there for the weekend and see what's new at the hotel and Manila Ocean Park. Siyempre, the kids are older now, but they still want to see the aquarium wall again.

So, let me share 7 things we love about Hotel H2O.

1. Ocean-Inspired Guest Rooms

Choose from these unique aqua rooms and suites.
All the rooms come with the usual amenities like personal ref, LCD TV, work desk with electronics charging dock, iron and board, hair dryer, weighing scale, and daily newspaper. Baby cot can also be requested, subject to availability.

Our Premiere Classic room features this massive aquarium wall -- a first of its kind in the Philippines. You can also have a premiere room with a spectacular floor-to-ceiling view of Manila Bay.

The spacious family room with a queen bed has a separate receiving area where two extra beds can fit. There's also a sofa bed but it looks worn out and needs updating.

Aside from the showcase end-to-end aquarium wall, which proved to be as entertaining and as relaxing as ever, what I love about our room is we have two LCD TV sets and two bathrooms. Walang pila sa banyo and walang agawan ng TV remote control. :)

The en suite marble bathroom was very clean and spacious. It features a rain shower and free standing tub, lavatory and toilet with bidet (I noted this improvement since there's no bidet during our first visit), and another standard toilet and bath by the entrance, both with all the basic toiletries for a comfortable stay. Check out the loofa. Hotel H2O is the only hotel I've stayed in where our local loofa natural body scrub is part of the toiletries.

2. Club H2O Lounge

Check-in area is on the third level of the hotel where Club H2O Lounge is also located. It overlooks the White Moon Bar and has sweeping views of Manila Bay and the city skyline.

Design wise, this is my favorite area of the hotel because of it's chic airy interiors and hip vibe. Guests can have casual meetings here or just chill over coffee and pastries, pizza and sandwiches, or sipping cocktails with a calming view of the bay. Some can surf the internet by the computer terminals, or have a smoke in the Cigar Room.

3. Garden Café by Hotel H2O

One of the changes we've seen during this recent stay is this charming café. This area leading to the hotel entrance used to be a small coffee shop serving civet coffee. It's now transformed with a refreshing garden-inspired look. Choose to stay cool inside or hang out by the pretty outdoor seating area.

It's a perfect stop for coffee concoctions, snacks and refreshments in between touring Manila Ocean Park’s attractions.

4. Makan Makan

The busiest restaurant in Hotel H2O is this Asian food village that serves more than 150 dishes from Japan, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, China, and Philippines. The restaurant is open to the public and it leads out to the outdoor bar overlooking the bay.

Our breakfast and lunch were served by Makan Makan and there was something for each member of the family.  The place is usually packed during Sunday lunch so they set up another buffet spread in the function room nearby for more comfortable seating. Naturally, we feasted on our Asian favorites like dimsum, kare kare, lechon, seafoods, assorted sweets, kaya busog na busog kami after we checked out.

5. White Moon Bar

From Makan Makan, the side door leads out to the newly renovated White Moon Bar. Wine and dine al fresco as you watch the beautiful Manila Bay sunset. The place was very inviting with a resort kind of feel. By 5:30 in the afternoon, the sun was starting to set and that's the best time to find your spot, order a glass of wine or your favorite cocktail, and enjoy the golden hour.

Hindi kami naka-punta dito during our first visit to the hotel so I was really looking forward to our candle-lit family dinner and enjoy Barbecue Night. By this time, enjoy the chill out music and unwind with family and friends.

6. Zenyu Eco Spa

One of the services you can try at Hotel H2O is Zenyu Eco Spa is their special Antioxidant Hot Bed Therapy, developed in Japan. I was able to try this before. Sayang nga I was not able to go to the spa during our recent visit but let me tell you, you should try the hot bed. The therapy room's temperature is set to 45 degrees celsius and humidity of 20% to make you sweat. The antioxidant ceramic floor and wall supply high concentrations of negative ions, which are pure air molecules, that our bodies will absorb while breathing. This improves blood circulation, cleanse and rejuvenate our body, relieve aching muscles, promotes cell regeneration and overall wellness.

7. Manila Ocean Park

Hotel H2O is part of an integrated park and hotel facility that also features Manila Ocean Park. We've been to the park a few times in the past and hindi pa rin namin na-try lahat. You can spend the whole day exploring and touring all the attractions and encounters of the theme park with the whole family. There's so much to see and experience! They now have Sharks & Rays Swim Encounter, Mermaid Swim, Be A Sea Lion Trainer, and many more! Choose your adventure here.

We were able to visit the Birds of Prey Kingdom and World of Creepy Crawlies. Best part was when we got to feed the brahminy kite with raw meat. Check out our short slow motion video clips here and here :)

I have to congratulate HOTEL H2O for maintaining the quality of their service and improving their amenities though the years. Thank you for having us once again and for creating another memorable weekend for my family.
