Mom-Finds: Lock & Lock Anodized Hard & Light Frying Pan

Last Friday of the month:  Mom-Finds / Cookware

As a home cook, I am the one who makes decisions when it comes to what kitchen appliances and cookware to purchase. Aside from aesthetics, the product features, ease of use, and price points are my main considerations before I buy. One of my trusted brands is Korean brand Lock & Lock. I've been using their food keepers and tumblers even before I got married, and in recent years, they also introduced several lines of cookware, a few of which I have also acquired and use on a daily basis. So a new addition to my "collection" is always received with much delight. My latest discovery is their Hard & Light frying pan which I am showing off here. =)

Create and Broadcast YouTube Videos from SMART Launchpad Upload Stations

"I want to be a famous YouTuber."  That's what my son tells me. Aside from wanting to be an artist when he grows up, he also wants to create his own video games and share them online. But he still needs to learn how to create better-quality content and learn coding. Even the girl is into YouTube tutorials and toy shows. Nung panahon ko, TV is our main medium when it comes to entertainment and information. Nowadays, YouTube and other social media channels rule. Good thing, SMART recognizes the creativity of the Filipino youth kaya they recently unveiled #OwnIt -- a campaign to empower the youth to pursue their passions, channel their creativity, and broadcast their talents to the world via SMART Launchpad.

Vacation in Shangri-la Mactan Resort Cebu, part 2

Here's our day 3 and 4 in Cebu.
I felt bitin with our recent vacation especially our stay at Shangri-la Mactan. Nonetheless, we made the most out of our trip and tried different activities as a family.  Our plan was really to have a city tour visiting historical landmarks on our first day in Cebu, which I featured here for part 1, and then move to Mactan for more rest and relaxation.

Fun Friday: Vacation and Sightseeing in Cebu

Third Friday of the month:  Travel / Recreation

This post is long overdue. Rainy season na, so I'll just reminisce on our memorable trip to the queen city of the south as we explored the city and relaxed on the island resort. We spent the last weekend of May in sunny Cebu and it was a special treat for the kids as well since it's their first plane ride. Our destination of choice is rich in history and a melting pot of people and culture.

Knorr Lutong Nanay Recipe: Sinigang With Pakwan

I love food in general. I'm quite adventurous in trying new dishes and cuisines mainly because I grew up in a home of hearty eaters and good cooks. My mother is a great cook and I learned so much from watching her whip up a variety of dishes on a daily basis. Iba talaga ang sarap when it's lutong nanay. You know what's in your food, you know it's healthier, and meal times at home bring families closer.

My Breakfast and Morning Routine

I am not a morning person. Even if I try, I am simply not as productive in the early hours of the day compared to working mid-morning and late evening. That said, I still maintain my morning rituals and try not to skip breakfast 'coz I might faint. I'm not kidding. So how do I start my day?

Keeping Up With This 40ish Mom

Second Friday of the month:  Personal / Motherhood

My lifestyle has evolved in a major way as I hit 40. It's only now that I took notice and appreciated all these changes in my life as a forty-three-year-old wife, and mother of the boy and the girl. I'm not going to turn serious here ha, but rather finding humor in the simple joys and pleasures that I've been experiencing lately, thanks to a change in perspective and channeling the law of attraction. Good vibes only, okay. It really works!

Round-Up of Easy-to-Cook Baon Ideas (Packed Lunch)

First Friday of the month:  Mom-Cook / Recipes

Back to school nanaman and most moms are making an effort to prepare their children's baon or packed lunch for school. We're talking about a meal for lunch, not a snack. Usually, in my case, heating left-over food from dinner is the way to go.  When I'm the mood to wake up early, I try to whip up simple 15-minute dishes.

Here's a round-up of recipes that have been tried and tested on my husband and kids. These are tasty lunch meals to-go for your family members.
Click on the link or photo for the full recipe.

(Ideally, adobo should be cooked the day before, save a portion and re-heat for baon the next day.))

(You can also blanche the beans first before you sauté.)

(Omit ground beef from recipe and use only sausages with the sauce for faster cooking time. )

(If you chance upon bottled bulgogi sauces in the grocery, grab one and make instant dishes with your choice of meat.)

(With this fried rice, chop and mix in any left over meat, or even Spam, to make it chunky and hearty.)

(One of my all-time favorites -- easy, tasty, and healthy.)

(Blanched broccoli works really well for this recipe too.)

(Not really a lunch meal but, hey, this winning breakfast food is a hit anytime of the day!)

Do you have easy-to-prepare baon meals you can share? =)
