Family Staycation at Ascott Makati, Day 2

A week before Father's Day, we had an enjoyable family staycation in a serviced residence. It was unique and memorable since we really felt like home in our 2-bedroom unit. The Ascott residences offers luxurious 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and 3-bedroom apartments as well as studio units to cater to traveling individuals and families.

In my previous Fun Friday post here, I took you on a photo tour of Ascott Makati. We stayed in a homey 2-bedroom unit with it's own toilet and bath, complete with a living and dining area, and a fully-equipped kitchen.

After sleeping soundly in our bedrooms, we woke up to a sunny Saturday morning and had a hearty breakfast at Cafe on the 6th.

Suffice to say, all of us had a filling meal since all our morning favorites were served at the buffet, and more!

Assorted breads and fruit juices for the boy and his tummy is happy. I liked their banana loaf the best. There's also a vegetarian option at the egg station.

My girl skipped the cereals this time, and I was so tempted to grab a cup of muesli or yoghut, but instead went for more savory fares.

Not to be missed are the super crispy baked bacon and juicy sausages, spicy mojos, and the Asian selection including the congee station. There's not a lot to choose from but they're all pretty good.

This was the Beef Tapa that I missed during dinner and I was so happy they served it for brekkie. It's a combination of salty-sweet and goes really well with garlic rice and dipped in vinegar. I could have eaten more if I wasn't too stuffed already.

The boy did not swim on our first day but he made sure he gets to enjoy the pool before we checked-out.

It was scorching hot by mid morning so there were only a few guests swimming. Sila ang pinaka maingay, nakakahiya! The pool was crystal clear and was so inviting.

When we walked over to the other end of the pool area, the girl pointed out the Jacuzzi to big brother, and naturally, they wanted to try it out. It was their first time to dip in one and they didn't want to leave! Nawili naman, but buti wala nang tao by that time. It was already close to noon time.

Ascott Makati was extra generous for extending our check-out time so there was no rush to clear out the room before lunch time. The kids were able to enjoy the pool for themselves, and we all had a late lunch at Cafe On The 6th.

The kids wanted the usual cheese pizza and this was the closest to what they had in mind - Chicken and Cheese pizza from Cafe on the 6th. Not bad. The kids were happy.

J had Beef Tapa the night before, so he ordered the Char-Grilled Pork Loin this time.  It was cooked well, and it's tasty and juicy, but on the salty side.  My Pan Fried Salmon was seasoned well and the doneness was perfect - moist and flaky just the way I like it. I would have wanted more of the tomato-anchovy sauce though. =)

Our attendant recommended their bestseller -- Chocolate Truffle Cake. It was not on the menu. At first, we didn't want any coz we're full already, but since it was a Daddy's Day celebration, we had a slice and chocoholic daddy gave a thumbs up! I also liked it, just too dense for me, but was very decadent and with the right level of sweetness. The vanilla ice cream on the side was divine. Imagine eating a dense chocolate cake sandwiched between two soft chocolate bars. That's how intense this cake was! =)

The girl requested for their White Chocolate Berry Brulee again, she can't get enough of it!

The family didn't join us for a photo so kami nalang. Thanks to my friend and former colleague Niza, of The Ascott Group, for warmly accommodating us over the long weekend.

The elegant and secure, spacious and well-appointed residences, superb service and prime location of Ascott Makati make it a preferred residence of international executives and their families, whether for short of long periods of stay. All the improvements that I wanted to suggest based on our stay were already addressed as soon as I saw the model units for their new interiors. Ascott Makati needs a facelift and they are acting on it.  That's definitely something to look forward to from Ascott Makati.

With all their features and amenities, Ascott makes an ideal staycation destination for families like us who seek to unwind and retreat without leaving the city -- Ascott can literally be your home away from home. We can't wait to go back. To quote the kids, "it's just like a house!"

The Ascott group currently operates three bands:  Ascott, Citadines and Somerset.
The Philippine cluster has 5 properties to date, namely:
Ascott Makati, Citadines, Somerset Millennium Makati, Somerset Olympia Makati and the newly-opened Ascott Bonifacio Global City Manila.
Soon, two more properties will open in the metro.
