I Leveled Up on My Skin Care and Makeup Routine

If you know me or have been following me and my blog, you'd know I always stick with the basics when it comes to beauty routine. While I've attended a number of beauty workshops in the past, I always end up with whatever I am "hiyang" with -- from facial cleanser to scrub, moisturizer and face powder. I am just too lazy to do so many steps kaya I just go with the bare essentials. All this changed after I went to Marj+Rowena's Beauty Workshop last year.

For years, my skin care regimen only included cleansing, exfoliating, and moisturizing. Well, until now din naman same pa rin, but nadagdagan ng extra step:
At my age, I know I need some changes, like with the eye cream. Also, I am now a fan of Laneige Water Bank series, which I first tried during the workshop. It's super cool and light while adequately hydrating my skin. I shared my love for the Water Bank Gel Cream here.

With my daily makeup, I was so used to just applying face powder, curling my lashes, and putting on whatever lipstick color I was in the mood for. That's it.

Since the recent holidays, though still inconsistent, nag-level up na ako compared to before! =) Now, here's my new makeup routine:
  • face powder or BB cushion - MAC Studio Fix, Mabelline White Superfresh, Laneige BB Cushion
  • apply pencil/liquid eyeliner - Inglot eyeliner, K-Palette 1Day Magic, Revlon Colorstay
  • apply liquid eyebrow liner - K-Palette Real Lasting Eyebrow
  • curl lashes
  • apply mascara - Bobbi Brown Smokey Eye Mascara
  • lipstick or lip shimmer - MAC, Happy Skin, Burt's Bees
  • blush (as needed)
To tell you the truth, minsan tamad pa rin ako to do the routine above, especially when I'm in a rush or when I bring and fetch kids to and from their classes. But at least I now put in extra effort especially to my kilay na bitin, hehehehe. I've been using K-Palette eyebrow liquid ever since I learned how to use it during the workshop.

Take a peek at my made-up face during the workshop, and a random day about a month ago when I was able to fix myself up, complete with mascara and defined eyebrows.

What's so special about that last beauty workshop?

First of all, the organizers are my friends Marj and Rowena, who are both beauty bloggers and are very knowledgeable in the skincare and makeup department. They've tried and used tons of products on themselves so I trust their recommendations.

Secondly, I discovered different brands and types of cosmetics they gave away during the workshop. Unlike the ones I've attended in the past sponsored by a single brand, theirs has allowed all the participants to try a wide assortment of skincare and make-up brands and taught us the proper use and application of each one.

Here I am with my friends Rowena and Marj, and co-participant Jackie Go with our "before" bare faces.

Look at my loot -- each participant took home all these, and more, from samplers to full sets of different product lines.  Each one approved and handpicked by my beauty-expert friends.

Before  and  After

No doubt, I became more conscious in taking care of my skin and more confident in doing my makeup after the workshop with Marj and Rowena. Major improvement na yan on my part to be able to follow through with what I learned. =)

It took a while for a part 2 of their workshop but I'm very happy to share my experience and announce the good news that they are having the sequel this June 11!
