Social Media Moms (SoMoms) and a #BetterMe

I've been blogging for a little over four years now and this became more than just a simple pastime of mine.  Being part of this new media opened wonderful opportunities for me, and the most important thing that came out of this are the friendships I've formed with fellow bloggers -  women I admire and respect for their values and individuality.  Many of them are part of the SoMoms.

Last June 15, the SoMoms (Social Media Moms) had our first summit held in one of the private function rooms at the Wine Bar, in El Pueblo Real, Ortigas Center, Pasig City.

As with all our past meet-ups, it was a combination of business and pleasure, and food can somehow take our attention away from the main presentation, heehe... So, allow me to start with the food!

Delicious and satisfying, our buffet brunch catered by the Wine Bar and Cafe 1771 fueled my sleepy head and growling tummy that morning.  I've been dining at the former Chateau 1771 since the early 90s and they have been consistent with the quality of their food and service.  Good news is, the bi-level establishment is now an ideal venue for your intimate social gatherings, parties, and business meetings.

Before I tell you what happened that day, let me delight you with the hearty dishes prepared for our brunch, thanks to Cafe 1771 and Wine Bar.  Above is the Fresh Garden Salad, and below are my favorites from the spread - Pancakes with Caramelized Bananas and Candied Walnuts, and the Salmon Lasagna!

There were cheesy bite-sized Croque Monsieur, Vegetable Frittata, and Chicken Piccata, all served in a Le Creuset cookware no less!

For our sweet endings, we indulged in Assorted Macarons, Bacon-Rosemary Mini Muffins, and luscious Peanut Hazelnut Cake!

Part of this activity was a private sale of some of the products from our mompreneurs, and the venue was perfect for this showcase.  Our SoMoms community not only encourages blogging with integrity, but to nurture our own interests and endeavors.

The support and enthusiasm within the group was amazing.  Here's a peek of some of the wares at the SoMoms private sale.

Beyond blogging, I'm happy to take part in relevant and enriching activities through SoMoms.  I believe our diversity and collective voice can make a difference and drive a movement for positive changes - in our society, the environment, our families, and within ourselves.

The SoMoms help me strive to be a #betterwoman, #bettermom, and ultimately, a #betterme.

During the assembly, we also had a formal induction of new members to SoMoms, including my childhood friend Tina, The Phenomenal Mama.

Presenting the new SoMoms, from left:
Conci, Chesca, Candy, PamPatty, Tiffany, MichelleThammie, Belle, Tina, and Marc - our lone dad, who brings a fresh and different perspective on parenthood and blogging.

Last weekend, Janice officially announced the two newest members, both blogger friends of mine before we even had this group. Welcome to SoMoms, Jane and Noemi!

Every event calls for our mandatory group shot. =)
