Fun Friday: Mothers Who Brunch Holiday Potluck Party

Third Friday of the month: Celebration / Holidays

The holidays are fast approaching and I am frantically drawing up my list for gift-giving, and blocking off dates from my calendar for get-togethers and events. If you're one to celebrate Thanksgiving, then you need to plan your menu now. Here are some ideas on potluck party preparations, from food to table settings, during the Mothers Who Brunch Holiday edition held at the Viking Range Showroom in Alabang.

The star of the event is the drool-worthy buffet spread, lovingly prepared by Mothers Who Brunch (MWB) head mamas Sabrina (@sinfullysabrina) and Michelle (@mommanmanila). But it's the group of people that I get to meet and dine with that made me want to take part in this well thought out, by-invitation event, kahit malayo (from San Juan to Alabang)! =)

This is my second time to join MWB at the Viking kitchen showroom. Here's my first MWB event, where I learned food and photo styling. I feel so privileged to be invited again, kaya I'm excited to share what happened during the Mothers Who Brunch Holiday Potluck event two weeks ago.

During the holidays, we can expect lots of reunions and parties happening left and right. I rarely host parties coz honestly, I don't want the stress of preparing, heehee! When we moved to our current home eight years ago, I started hosting our Christmas Eve family dinner with just my immediate family and we do potluck. My mom and brother bring two different dishes each while I order lechon and make a cake (or buy one if I get lazy). No frills and fancy styling here. Just eating and gift-giving. How I wish someone can pimp my home for the holidays to make it look festive and inviting!

Potluck parties are so practical and less stressful especially for the one hosting. That's why at the recent MWB event, we got ideas from the gorgeous Christmas theme set-up by Boqueria Lifestyle Market. With touches of greens and reds, and accents like candles, leaves and pinecones, we can easily recreate a festive mood like this in our homes, which transformed the Viking showroom and definitely felt like Christmas in November! =)

While feeling the holiday spirit, we feasted on the sumptuous spread prepared by Trish Panlilio of NawwTy's Kitchen -- dishes that we can be ordered and proudly served at holiday parties, or on any occasion.

But first, there's wine and cheese.

Welcome platter:
This particular charcuterie and cheese platter was prepared by Mish -- an instant hit and perfect potluck contribution that requires no cooking. It's made extra special with paté, boursin, and heavenly truffle honey! Sabrina has her own surprise for us too. You'll find out as you continue reading.

Trish Panilio / NawwTy's Kitchen wowed everyone with her specialties.

Appetizers:
Kick-ass good Jalapeño Beef Fingers served with her own cilantro cream sauce, and succulent Prawn Farfalle Salad which was surprisingly light.

Mains:
Flavorful and sinful Crab Fat Paella with tender squash and chunks of juicy crab meat, topped with crunchy chicharon. Boom! Okay, you can stop drooling now. This belly-buster dish was unforgettable.

I am not fond of turkey because of the lean meat, but this Apple and Sausage Stuffed Roast Turkey was tender, juicy, and well-seasoned. Masarap! Look at that beautiful bird!

It's wonderfully complemented with sidings like peach marmalade, mashed potato, roasted veggies and even the peppered gravy and drippings. Perfect for Thanksgiving dinner, diba? So if your family will celebrate Thanksgiving next week, I suggest you order one right now! Numbers are listed below the dessert.

Dessert:
No-fail sweet ending, Dulce de Leche (Leche flan). I can eat that one whole serving, but I practiced self-control and just got a small slice.

Before we started eating, Sabrina and Mish demonstrated how to prepare an easy potato side dish using this new kitchen-to-table serving tray from Glad that is oven-safe! We all love Glad!

As if the paella and turkey were not enough, Sabrina brought out her newest baby -- crispy lechon belly! Winner!

Here comes Manila Belly, ready to take your orders! I posted the actual flyer here so you can find all the details on how to order. I reserved one already! =)

Crunchy on the outside, flavorful and juicy inside. I like the spicy belly!

More dessert:
This cake buffet greeted us when we arrived, and after a hearty savory meal, it was time to attack them! =) No one sliced that pretty Naked Strawberry Shortcake that towered over this cake heaven, so sayang I didn't get to taste it. Everything you see here -- cakes and cookie cups, was baked by The Flour Girl.

My favorites: See that white cake (below, right) with brown icing on top? It's Pumpkin Banana Cake made with dulce de leche, peanut praline butter mousse, and peanut brittle! Love at first slice! And that Matcha Green Tea Cake was surprisingly good too, so creamy-licious!

Thank you, Mish and Sabrina, for having me at Mothers Who Brunch Christmas party! As usual, it was a lot of fun to gather, to inspire, to feast with all the mamas here. I went home so full and happy and with loads of goodies to enjoy!
