When it comes to footwear, comfort and style are my main priority. With my current on-the-go laid back lifestyle, you'll often find me wearing sandals, flats or sneakers. I only wear flip flops to the beach, by the pool, or when going to pilates studio. I don't wear them for long walks coz they're straight flat and no foot support whatsoever. My perception of flip flops changed when I was introduced to iQushion by FitFlop.

Family Shoe Shopping at RES|TOE|RUN
I love shoes! I enjoy shopping for shoes, not just for myself but for J and the kids as well. To be honest, it is quite difficult to find hip and functional shoes for the boy and the girl coz they're both in the tween and teen ages. We usually go from one store to another just to see what's available for them. Problem solved for us coz Res|Toe|Run has expanded their children's footwear line in the past two years. So there's now more choices for the whole family in one store!

Summer-Perfect Ipanema Hot Sands Sandals
The month of March signals the beginning of summer here in the Philippines, and we can all expect something new and fabulous from our favorite fashion brands, from clothing to footwear. Ipanema is no exception as the popular Brazilian flipflop brand recently unveiled the Gisele Bündchen Hot Sands Collection -- a colorful and summery collection of nature-themed footwear that's perfect for the season!
The Ipanema Gisele Bündchen Hot Sands Collection was just launched a week ago via a beach-themed fashion show held at the Prestige Lounge of SM Megamall. I'm such an Ipanema fan so I was excited to be invited, but the time was just impossible for me. Well, better late than never. As expected, I completely missed the show and arrived just as the guests were starting to leave, so no fashion show photos for me :((( . My friends told me the presentation was brief, featuring pretty models sashaying in Coco Cabaña’s swim wear line that complemented the latest Ipanema sandals.
What's noteworthy about this latest collection is its support to ISA (Instituto Socioambiental). ISA is a socio-environmental institute in Brazil working for this advocacy -- 'Fight Against Climate Change Central Strategy', a program that is optimistic about people's relationship with the planet and proposes that we all think about what we can do right now, in practice, to improve our lives. Visit Ipanema Philippines on Facebook to find out how you can help save the environment by posting an eco-saving tip for a chance to win a free pair of Ipanema GB sandals!
Ipanema Gisele Bündchen Hot Sands Collection, exclusively distributed by ELRO Corp., is available at SM Department Stores, Bambu shops, and other leading boutiques and stores nationwide.

I already have my eye on the wedge slip-ons. Now, here's a treat from Ipanema:
To all SM Advantage/Prestige Card holders (I am!), you can avail of a 10% price off on the Hot Sands Collection just by presenting your card upon purchase at any SM department stores for the whole month of March. Coolness!
Hello summer!!!

Grand Spectacle at Sandalias Festival 2010
One spectacular event happened last weekend -- Sandalias Festival 2010, which delighted sandal lovers like me! Aptly themed “Step Into Some Love”, the Brazilian-style celebration was a fabulous showcase for trendy footwear brands Ipanema, Ipanema Gisele Bündchen (GB), Grendha and Rider.

Mom-Finds For Girls: Espadrille Sandals from The Little Red Shoe
Last Friday of the Month: Mom-Finds for P500 or Less
At a recent bazaar, I saw these super cute and stylish denim sandals for girls. And they were on SALE! After getting myself this espadrille peep-toe wedge over a month ago, I just couldn't resist buying one for my little fashionista too!
I noticed that most of my children's shoes are getting too small for them and so I now have to buy a new batch of footwear for both of them. If you are a parent to a boy, you may agree with me that it's much simpler for boys with just the basic selection of leather loafers, sneakers, black shoes and rubber shoes. As for girls, well...if you knew mine, she just got to have several shades of pink shoes for her to choose from, aside from a few pairs of rubber shoes, dress shoes and sandals.
Now that she's an active school girl (they don't have a uniform), some of her favorite shoes get worn out easily. So I need quantity, that's why I'm always on the look-out for the cute, the comfy and the affordable -- something that would last 'til the next cycle of shoes to fit her growing feet.
The Little Red Shoe has all those qualities I was looking for. The ankle-strap sandals is made from denim fabric, all around from the in-sole to the bow detail. It has flat rubber sole with braided abaca trim. The strap with velcro enclosure made it easier for my girl to put these on and take off all by herself.
Aren't they cute?!? :-)
This style came in black, red, brown, pink and denim, but with limited stocks already. I would have wanted to get her the brown too but she was not in a good mood and simply was not interested with the shoes. There were other really nice styles available, so I just decided on this denim pair in size 9, and crossed my fingers that she'll wear them eventually.
As soon as we got home, I had her try on the sandals again and she liked it instantly (whew!)! She wore it the rest of the day and only took them off until it was time to take a bath (hmm...this line sounds so familiar...).
I also bought this pretty-in-pink pair in a much smaller size -- a perfect gift for a toddler who's just learning how to walk. Each pair from The Little Red Shoe is packaged in a reusable tote bag matching the color of the shoes, like this one. Cute and earth-friendly!
I also got to take home this Mommy Pages directory for Free at the bazaar, organized by Mommy Mundo. A very useful reference booklet for moms like me.
There are more stylish footwear for the little ladies from The Little Red Shoe's website. Check it out and happy shopping!

Espadrilles a'la Liliw
Cool, comfy, colorful, open-toe, ankle strap, denim upper, locally-made abaca platform wedge sandals -- or simply, wedge espadrilles from Liliw, Laguna. Nice!
I know Mom-Finds is for the last Fridays, but I can't resist posting this yet another fab shoe find since they are only available in Tiendesitas up to the 15th of August.
I've always been a fan of espadrilles since the 80s and I had my share of those colorful slip-ons made with canvas and braided jute sole from Spain. Now they are back with a vengeance, from imported and local brands, in a multitude of colors and styles tempting those with insatiable shoe appetites.
These stylish footwear you see here are made from the town of Liliw, in the southern province of Laguna, which is known for their quality, handcrafted abaca tsinelas (slippers). They can now add espadrille sandals to their list of bestsellers. Prices range from P450 to P650 (pesos).
You can buy up to 10 pairs from this merchant with the amount you would pay for an imported pair. I also found more trendy stocks from another brand in Greenhills. Just scour the lifestyle bazaars around the city and you are bound to find locally made espadrilles you fancy, and horde! =)
Let's support our local shoe industry. Buy Liliw-made espadrilles (",).
Princess Footwear
Tiendesitas La Plaza Village
Frontera Verde, Pasig City
Until August 15.
