Make Cheeseburgers at McDonald's Burger Shop in KidZania Manila

It was a fun family affair for us at KidZania last September 19. The kids were so excited to be invited by McDonald's to be among the first to "work" at the kid-sized kitchen of the newly opened McDonald's Burger Shop. When my boy and I went to KidZania during the pre opening, he peeked through the burger shop which was not open yet. He told me he wants to try it out the next time he visits. Well, he got his wish! Kids can now enjoy and learn how to make their favorite McDonald's cheeseburger at KidZania!

Smurfs Invasion!

The last time I went ga-ga over these adorable blue characters was when I was in 6th grade!!!  Who knew the Smurfs would find their way into 2011, with a movie to boot, and charm this new generation of tech-savvy kiddies like my boy and girl.

We got four Smurfs from our latest order of McDonald's Happy Meals.  There were 8 dolls to choose from and the boy and the girl got these cuties...

Smurfette -- the only female in the village, is the obvious choice for my girl.  The doll, a little over 3 inches, comes with her own pink caterpillar comb to keep her golden tresses in place.

Clumsy - he doesn't look clumsy here but he seems to be carrying a magic laser sword.

Brainy - this guy comes with a toaster that springs him away when the toast is pressed.

Papa Smurf - the boss is mixing up some magic in his pot...watch it glow as you press, change colors and blink, blink, blink!

I was actually looking for Gargamel and Azrael in the collection, but no vilains included. :) We'll go back to collect the rest!

Now we're all set to bring the kids to watch the Smurfs movie, showing in Metro Manila theaters this coming week!

Express Service from McDonald's McDelivery Online

"McDonald's!" That's the default answer I'd get when I ask what the family likes for (fast food) delivery.  It's getting to be a "tradition" of bonding over burgers and fries! 


I know, I know, it's bad.  I try really hard to limit our fast food consumption to twice a month. It's usually either a tub of Jollibee Chicken Joy or McDonald's hamburger meals for delivery. Okay, someone will shoot me for using those two burger joints in one sentence! (LOL!) But it's true, those are our usual orders.

Last weekend, even with the phone just a few feet way, hubby decided to check McDonald's online from his iPad and bingo!  McDelivery Online. Dinner solved.

3 quick and easy steps and you're done!

What amazed us was the fact that after just about 2 minutes from completing our online order, we got a call from McDonald's to confirm our orders. And within 20 minutes, our burgers and fries arrived at our doorstep! Dinner is served.

It was such a coincidence that I got this email a day before so I thought I'd share these tips from McDonald's and Nuffnang for all you folks taking a road trip. Great ideas for those traveling with kids too this summer break!  
Keep your journey fun and exciting with these creative things to do:

• Play the car plate game  - See how creative your friends are by giving meanings to the alphabets written on the plate of the car in front of you (i.e. WLS 123 = Women Love Shopping)
• Count cars - Make your friends choose a car make/brand. Once everyone has chosen a brand, try to compete with each other by counting the number of cars of your choice that pass by.
• Take Pictures - To keep your travel journal more interesting, try to take pictures of funny signages, fascinating people and breathtaking view.
• Play What's Next - Pick an interesting topic (i.e. animals with 2 legs).  Then take turns naming one thing/animal/person that belongs to the group/topic. Person who couldn't answer loses.
• Spot the yellow car - Keep your kids on the lookout by spotting yellow cars. The one who spots the most number of yellow cars in 3 minutes wins.
• Keep quiet - Try to find out how patient your kids are by being mum for several minutes. The one who utters a word first loses. (We call this the "Quiet Game" and have the kids play this when they're getting too loud and distracting to the driver.)
• Alphabet game - Take turns naming a country, animal, or city that begins with the letter "A" followed by "B" and so on.
• Eat - Playing all those fun games can make you really hungry.

Turning 7 years old last November, he only requested to dine at McDonald's to eat cheeseburger and fries!

McDonald's Happy Meal Sanrio Stampers

Look at these cute little things! SANRIO stampers from McDonald's Happy Meal! Sanrio is celebrating their 50th anniversary and they came out with these super cute stampers! It comes with every order of a Happy Meal this month so collect them all now!

Being a die-hard Sanrio fan, I just got to make a post on this.

Honestly, I was the one who got really excited when I saw these a week after new year's.  My girl couldn't care less! The family was dining at McDonald's then and so I ordered two Happy Meals just to get my two favorite characters pronto -- Hello Kitty and My Melody.

I was actually choosing meals to order for my girl's simple birthday party in school, and I ended up ordering Happy Meals for her classmates as well so each one can bring home a stamper. :)))

Simply press the character down, slide up the base cover, and stamp! See the character pop up as soon as you stamp!

You can also use it as key chain or bag charm too --  well, that's for the kid's bag of course, it would be too funny if I hang it on my bag! (photo below is for illustration purposes only! :p )

I am hoping when I go back this week, they still have Cinnamoroll and Sugarbunnies stampers in stock so I can complete the collection. Wish me luck!

The Boy is 7

I see that twinkle in your eye

And know some mischief you might try.

Just like this poem, my boy always has some mischief he might try -- so playful yet gentle-hearted, very personable and ever so sweet!

Today, my boy turns seven. I still remember a few months back when he began counting down towards this day.   "It's only 48 hours 'til my birthday!", he exclaimed last Monday morning.  He has so many wishes and we promised to fulfill a few of those for his natal day.

He is in "big school" now, facing another exciting stage in his very young life, with more challenges and more independence. It seemed only yesterday that we celebrated his sixth...time flew so fast!  Now I'm the one who's feeling old! :<

Aside from the traditional celebratory Sunday family lunches, we did not plan for any parties. For his birthday, he only wanted toys like Lego and Zero Gravity...and so we bought him what he wanted a week earlier...

...and to eat McDonald's Cheeseburger!!! It's the first time he asked for this on his birthday so for dinner today, we went to the burger chain as he wished.
