Round-up of Family Hotel Staycations for the Holidays

Third Friday of the month: Recreation / Celebrations

It's just a week before Christmas and I'm sure many have already made plans for family vacations. For those of us who are staying home over the holidays, a weekend getaway or hotel staycation can be a great option to celebrate with loved ones.

My family has been very fortunate to be invited by several hotels for overnight accommodations the past couple of years. The experience has been very enriching and fun especially for the kids since they really enjoyed the VIP treatments they got from these establishments. I know some were more memorable 'coz from time to time, they still tell stories about parts of our stay and ask us to go back.

So, based on their enthusiastic feedback and entertainment factor for the kids, here's a round-up of their favorite family staycations through the years, in alphabetical order.

Acaia Hotel in Alabang is still the same bright, energetic, and happy place I remembered it to be -- they have maintained their excellent service since our first visit in 2012. We were very comfortable at our Junior Suite and slept soundly on their signature Dream Bed.
Aside from the staff's personal attention to details, Acacia Hotel Manila also offers free shuttle service from Acacia to nearby commercial centers so checked-in guests can explore the city.

A week before Father's Day, we had an enjoyable family staycation in a serviced residence. It was unique and memorable since we really felt like home in our well-appointed 2-bedroom unit, while we raved about the delectable dishes at Cafe on the 6th.
The Ascott Residences offers luxurious 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom, and 3-bedroom apartments as well as studio units to cater to traveling individuals and families.

When looking for a place to unwind, for families or for business in the Pasig area, Discovery Suites in Ortigas should be on the top of your list. The amenities and warm service will make you feel really welcome and at home.
All the Serendipity Suites are newly-renovated. The spacious 2-Bedroom Suite was perfect for the four of us with its cozy and modern interiors, and special service from their pillow concierge.

F1 Hotel Manila is the first business and lifestyle hotel that opened in BGC, centrally located around commercial establishments.  For guests billeted in any of the suites, the lounge offers a spacious waiting area, access to computers, a private library, as well as complimentary breakfast, afternoon tea and cocktails. Families can also choose to swim from their three pools.

H2O Hotel's bay-view structure and upscale interior design was intended to simulate the feeling of being in a ship, with dimly-lit hallways leading to the rooms, and floor to ceiling windows for a full view of the beautiful seascape day and night.  It's conveniently situated beside Manila Ocean Park.
The highlight of our stay was the expansive aquarium wall of the suite that stretches from the receiving to the sleeping areas.  It's well maintained and has a dedicated staff that cleans and operates the aquarium and feeds the fish on schedule.

For last year's Oreo halloween party, we were accommodated at Hotel Kimberly in Tagaytay. The charming hotel, with their sprawling garden cum playground and indoor function room, provided the perfect backdrop for our event.
On two occasions, my family also booked for overnight stays at Hotel Kimberly and the kids had the most wonderful time at their petting zoo and playground, aside from swimming in cold water.

Seda Nuvali is a welcome addition to the growing Nuvali community. As a lifestyle hotel, Seda caters to both business groups and families and offers a unique recreational experience with activities at Solenad just a few steps away from the hotel. Never a dull moment for the kids.
In the 9-storey hotel, guests can choose to stay in a Deluxe, Premier, or Club Room. We had a relaxing time in our own Premier room while the kids shared a Deluxe room.

When traveling to Tagaytay, you can't miss the city landmark -- Taal Vista Hotel, as it sits on the ridge by the main road.  The hotel is sprawling, kids can run around, enjoy nature, dine at the hotel's restaurants, and the whole family can just breath in fresh air and relax by the magnificent view of Taal Lake and Taal Volcano. The hotel also makes use of their fresh organic picks from the vegetable and herb garden for their dishes.

WILSON'S PLACE (Dinner, Bed and Breakfast)

Wilson's Place Bed & Breakfast, located in a secluded part of a residential village in cool Tagaytay, actually offers dinner, bed, breakfast. Food is superb. It's contemporary design and interesting art installations add charm and whimsy to the place, which fascinated the kids and adults alike.
The privacy of the place is an ideal respite from the stressful city life, making it a popular choice for family reunions, social parties, and a couple's secret hideaway.
